Been in Xiahe about 3 weeks ago for a week.
made a tour in grasslands and hired a taxi from Lanzhou to Xiahe (7 hours) and taxi ride from 8 hours :Xiahe to Xining with Clary and Wandhikhar. She is a Dutch woman married to a Tibetan.
very honest people!! a wonderfull tour in the grasslands .we hate guides an touroperators but she made our stay fantastic (only when we asked for) no pushing. They gave us even tips to make the trip to Langmusi by bus. http://www.xiahe-tibettravel.info/index.html

trip from Lanzhou airport to Xiahe booked by email:
driver waited at airport for the 7 hours drive. We where to late in lanzhou to get a bus to xiahe
so, with the taxi we could arrive same day in Xiahe ( win 1 day) & make photostops .
