Itinerary:
Day 1:Pick up from Lhasa airport,
transfer to your 3 star hotel in the center of Lhasa, which is the Barkhor area.
This area is actually the "old" Lhasa, a charming bustling market area full of
Tibetan goods and souvenirs. Many Tibetans from all over Tibet come to this area
for shopping and for sight seeing, so you can see many different kinds of people
here, with stunning clothes and head dresses.
Day 2: Your guide will take
you to visit the Potala palace in the morning and Jokhang and Ramoche temples in
the afternoon.
Day 3: Car and guide to take you to Drepung and Sera
monasteries just outside of Lhasa. The Sera monastery is famous for its daily
debating, which attracts many people. It is so special to see the passion with
which the monks use the debating system to increase their knowledge of Buddhism.
Day 4: The Norbulinka Palace was once the summer residence of many Dalai
Lamas. It is now open to the public, a nice house with many original things used
by the last Dalai Lama. The park around the Norbulinka is a favorite place for
many residents from Lhasa. In the afternoon we get an glimpse of real life in
Lhasa, when we get the opportunity to visit either an orphanage or a local
school.
We offer an amazing hotel in Lhasa! Our carefully selected hotel has a special Tibetan touch.
House of Shambhala: a unique boutique hotel in the center of old Lhasa, the Barkhor area. It is a three storeyed house, built around a court yard with prayer wheels and a shrine in the lobby. The 10 bedrooms are all different from the other in size and design. The design is distinctly Himalayan, with gold, saffron and crimson, colors, and filled with hand painted antiques, meditation chairs, yoga mats, furry white rugs, and exquisite Buddhist paintings. The ensuite bathrooms have stone walled showers and fragrant Tibetan soaps. The view from the roof of the House of Shambhala, whilst sipping a local cocktail and watching some local dancers is absolutely breathtaking, and is just one of the things to make this a unique luxury boutique hotel. The spa next door has a wonderful soaking tub, and you can have a superb massage to round of a day spent wandering around Lhasa. Price starts at RMB 500 per night for a double room.
