2 Visit the Tian An Men square and the Forbidden City, Summer Palace. Enjoy show in the evening. Overnight in Beijing

3 Visit Great Wall, Holy Road. Soft sleeper overnight train to Datong. Overnight on the train

4 Day trip to the Yungang caves. Overnight in Datong

5 To Wutaishan, on the way visit the Hanging Monastery. Overnight in Wutaishan

6 Explore the many temples of Wutaishan. Overnight in Wutaishan

7 To Pingyao with a stop at the Qiao Family Courtyard house. Overnight in Pingyao

8 Pingyao city tour. In the evening soft sleeper to Luoyang. Overnight in the train

9 Visit the wonderful Longmen caves. Overnight in Luoyang

10 To Xi'an by high speed train. rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Xi'an

11 Terra Cotta Army, afternoon to bustling Muslim area. In the evening enjoy Tang Dynasty show with dumpling buffet. Overnight in Xi'an

12 Drive to TianShui, visit Maijishan Buddhist rock carvings on the way. Overnight in Tianshui

13 To Lanzhou, visit Gansu Historical Museum. Overnight in Lanzhou

14 Transfer to Xiahe, via Binglingsi grottoes. Overnight in Xiahe

15 Visit the Labrang monastery, Golden Stupa and printing temple. Overnight in Xiahe

16 Visit the Sangke grasslands. Overnight in Xiahe

17 Continue to Xining via Ganjia grasslands, visit Tongren monastery on the way. Overnight in Xining

18 Visit Kumbum monastery. Overnight in Xining

19 To Zhangye, visit longest Reclining Buddha of China. Overnight in Zhangye

20 Drive to Jiayuguan, visit Fort. Overnight in Jiayuguan

21 5 hours drive to Dunhuang. Overnight in Dunhuang

22 Visit the stunning Mogao Caves. Overnight in Dunhuang
